With a commitment to fostering and maintaining factories that are great places to work, PMI has determined that employee retention and injury rates are the most important social Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). These two indicators function as simple and generic metrics for the social status of a factory without the complexity and variability of an audit report system. PMI also has a robust audit and corrective action system, but has found social KPIs to be useful in business discussions with factory owners.

Injury rates at PMI’s supplier factories remained very low in 2015 – at zero or close to zero. PMI Joinease stands out, reporting almost no workplace injuries since 2013, while another supplier has made dramatic improvements, reducing the number of injuries by almost 18 times in two years.
